Dexter McLean: Celebration Event

Visitors, including a wheelchair user, view artwork in a gallery

2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

Orleans House Gallery

Join us for an afternoon celebrating the work of artist-in-residence Dexter McLean and his new work developed during his residency at Orleans House Gallery.

Dexter McLean is a London-based photographer whose work explores Black and disabled representation through self-portraiture. During his residency, Dexter has responded to Ronald Moody’s sculptures by creating a new series of photographs that reflect on identity, visibility and the ways Black disabled bodies are viewed and understood within art and society.

Drawing inspiration from the poses and forms of Moody’s sculptures, Dexter’s work explores themes of beauty, vulnerability, strength, sexuality and belonging. Through this powerful new series, he challenges assumptions about disability and representation and shares personal reflections on his own experiences.

Come along to view the work, meet Dexter McLean and celebrate his residency.

Free, drop-in event

The Ronald Moody: Sculpting Life exhibition runs until 27 Feb 2027.
