Woodland and gardens
Our gallery sits in a small patch of green space just off Twickenham Riverside. You can enjoy quiet contemplation or a muddy walk with friends whilst exploring the flora and fauna of the richly diverse woodland. Or just relax on the lawns after exploring the gallery.
Our grounds are accessible seven days a week and can be explored independently or as part of a visit to the gallery or Stables Café.
Looking after the ecosystem
The woodland is relatively recent, growing up after the majority of Orleans House was demolished in 1926. A recent habitat survey shows that it is now home to a diverse ecology. There are surviving veteran trees, three notable plants for London, bats and breeding birds.
The London Borough of Richmond upon Thames’ Arts and Parks Service have developed a new approach to look after the woodland and grounds. The Ecosystem Plan combines practical management with creative programming linked to arts and the natural environment.
Our canine community
The grounds are enjoyed by many from our local canine community. The grounds are open seven days a week all year round. Well-behaved dogs can explore the majority of the grounds off lead but must be on a lead when inside the gallery courtyards and cafe. Only assistance dogs can enter the gallery spaces,
