The gallery is a 10 minute walk from both St Margaret’s and Twickenham station, and 40 minutes from Richmond stations. All these stations are served by direct trains from Waterloo.
Use the postcode TW1 3BL in your satnav. You only can access the gallery via Orleans Road. There is no vehicle access via Lebanon Park Road. Limited free car parking space is available within the grounds. Paid parking is also available nearby.
The coach drop-off point is at Richmond Road, Orleans Road is not suitable for coaches and there is no turning point in the car park.
Hammerton’s Ferry runs a service across the river Thames, between Ham House on the south bank and Marble Hill Park on the north bank, which is a short walk from the gallery.
Access to the Orleans House Gallery car park can be limited during high tides. Please check our tide times.
Your visit
The gallery is open Tuesday–Sunday, 10am–5pm with a last entry of 4.45pm. We are closed on Mondays except for Bank Holiday Mondays.
Orleans House Gallery is free to visit. Donations are welcome.

The Stables Café is open 9am–4pm daily (kitchen open 10am–3pm). Please see our Stables Café menu and opening times.
The Octagon Room is on occasion closed for private events. Please get in touch before your visit to ensure it is open for viewing.
Visitor guidelines
You cannot eat or drink in our gallery spaces. You are welcome to sit in the grounds to eat, or to visit our café but please finish or put away any food before entering the gallery.
We welcome dogs on leads in our grounds and at our café. Dogs are not allowed in the gallery spaces unless they are a guide or assistance dog and wearing a tabard or harness.
Smoking, including e-cigarettes, is not permitted within the gallery or courtyard.
Personal photography is allowed throughout the gallery, except for some temporary exhibitions.
You can [hire the Octagon Room] for professional filming and photography.
Children must always be accompanied by a responsible adult inside the gallery and in the gallery grounds. We reserve the right to refuse admittance to any unaccompanied child under the age of 12.
We have a zero tolerance policy for harassment of our staff and volunteers.
Please help us protect our grounds so that everyone can enjoy them:
- Smoking and vaping are not permitted.
- Ball games and sports are not allowed in the gardens.
- Picking or pruning the plants is not allowed.
- Please use the paths and avoid walking over planted areas.
- Drones and other remotely controlled aircraft are not allowed.
- No commercial activities may be undertaken in the gardens except as part of the gallery’s authorised events.
