Care Constellations by Kat Cotta

Through creative reflection, daydreaming and discussion, this two-hour creative and practical workshop invites you to explore care as an interconnected, collective resource that can sustain us in times of ecological crisis.

Beginning with creating individual stars that reflect our everyday experiences of care, we will then bring these together to form constellations, exploring what needs to be protected, changed or repaired for care to thrive.

Together, we will make visible the relationships and systems through which care is built, and consider their connection to climate justice.

What to expect:

College and natural materials, pens and paint, will be provided for you to create, draw or write your own creative rumination on care. You are welcome to also bring along a small personal object that represents care to you. Our collective offerings will be shared with one another and temporarily woven together, to explore how they link.

About the facilitator

Kat Cotta is a creative producer, artist and facilitator who has worked across arts-education and non-profit sectors to design creative interventions for climate and social justice with local communities and young people, and support activists engaging in creative forms of nonviolent protest, where care is a necessary foundation for taking collective risks.

Kat’s attention to care is also informed by their own messy and everyday experience of it, and her ongoing project uncovering the (unrecorded) experiences of her late grandma as an anglo-Indian domestic worker.
