See Saw @ Home – Design and Composition

Welcome to another SeeSaw @ Home – 9 weeks of activities for ages 5 and under to do at home with a grown-up.

This week we’re exploring Design and Composition.

Scroll down to find the artworks from the Borough Art Collection that have inspired us this week, then join us for a storytelling and activity exploring Design and Composition.

These photographs are from the Burton Collection. Find out more about collections in our first See Saw @ Home here.

In this week’s tail-time, we receive a letter from the mice of Orleans House Gallery. They let us know some fun things that they have been up to. Watch the video to learn about what design and composition means with this storytelling activity.

Create:

What shape would you make a room? Inspired by the Octagon Room and the mice’s Square room, can you draw a picture of a room you’d like to make? What would you call your room? Can you draw something you’d like to put inside your room?

Also, can you find a favourite toy and recreate one of the photographs from the collection too? You could move things around and see what happens.

Don’t forget to share your creations with us (and the mice) at #OrleansHouseGallery and #SeeSawAtHome
