SUMMARY:Ronald Moody: Sculpting Life
DESCRIPTION:About the exhibition&nbsp\;\n\n\n\nRonald Moody: Sculpting L
 ife&nbsp\;brings the&nbsp\;work of the&nbsp\;Jamaican-born\, West London
–based sculptor back to the city where he lived\,&nbsp\;worked&nbsp\;a
nd carved for more than half a century. Touring from&nbsp\;The Hepworth
 Wakefield\, this major&nbsp\;exhibition&nbsp\;showcases&nbsp\;the breadt
 h of Moody’s practice&nbsp\;across sculpture\,&nbsp\;poetry\,&nbsp\;wr
iting&nbsp\;and audio broadcasts. The show offers an&nbsp\;expansive vie
w of one of the most important yet historically overlooked artists of th
e twentieth century.&nbsp\;\n\n\n\nMoody’s story is one of continual r
einvention. Trained initially in dentistry\, his encounters with&nbsp\;E
gyptian&nbsp\;sculpture in the British Museum led him to teach himself c
arving. He&nbsp\;developed&nbsp\;a sculptural language that blended Mode
rnism\,&nbsp\;spirituality&nbsp\;and a deep engagement with global mytho
logies. From the&nbsp\;wooden figures he made in the 1930s to his postâ€
‘war experimentation with concrete and resin\, Moody’s practice reveal
s a lifelong commitment to exploring human experience through form\,&nbs
 p\;rhythm&nbsp\;and material.&nbsp\;\n\n\n\nThe exhibition traces this j
ourney in full\, from his early London and Paris years to the wartime pe
riod that shaped some of his most&nbsp\;striking&nbsp\;work.&nbsp\;\n\n\
 n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n‘Anything I d
 o\, I&nbsp\;have to&nbsp\;feel as well.&nbsp\;It’s&nbsp\;a kind of fee
ling and seeing in one…’&nbsp\;\n\n\n\nRonald Moody interview with S
 ylvia Moore\, 1977&nbsp\;\n\n\n\n\nThe exhibition also features Legacy&n
bsp\;Projects\,&nbsp\;a programme of contemporary artist commissions cre
ated for Orleans House Gallery. New works by&nbsp\;Kedisha Coakley\, Dex
ter McLean and Kat Francois&nbsp\;respond to Moody’s ideas and artisti
c legacy\, continuing a conversation about his place within British and
international art history today.&nbsp\;\n\n\n\n\nDexter in front of his
