DESCRIPTION:To accompany the exhibition Saline Shock!\, exhibiting artis
 t Josie Rae Turnbull will be in conversation with science fiction writer
  Arianne Maki\, discussing overlapping themes and concepts in their resp
 ective research. The conversation will revolve around the concept of fac
 tual fable\, the animal in science fiction and speculative art and story
 telling to reflect on contemporary multi-species encounters. The In Conv
 ersation will be followed by a Q&amp\;A and an opportunity to see the wo
 rks in the exhibition. \n\n \n\nThis event is free to attend\, however

 :  \n\nThis event will take place in the Stables Gallery at Orleans H
 ouse Gallery. For directions\, please ask one of our friendly Front Desk
  volunteers at reception. The Stables Gallery has step free access howev
 er\, the floor is brickwork and can be uneven under foot.  Large print
  guides of the exhibition are available at the desk in the Stables Galle
 ry.  \n\nAn accessible toilet is located at the back of the Stables Ga

 rdisciplinary Artist and Art Facilitator. Her work spans across textiles
 \, sculpture\, printmaking and lens-based media. She completed her MA in
  Fine Art and Science at Central Saint Martins in 2022\, following livin
 g in Ho Chi Minh City. Josie’s practice dissects the chaotic systems t
 hat affect various ecosystems. \n\nJosie was born\, raised\, and curren

 anne Maki is a writer and community facilitator passionate about using s
 peculative art and storytelling as a method for reflecting on contempora
 ry multi-species encounters. In 2022\, they completed an MA in Ecology\,
  Culture\, and Society at the University of Goldsmiths\, where they wrot
 e on octopus-human and seaweed-human relationships within contemporary a
 quaculture. Their novel\, 'The Taste of a Planet' was shortlisted for th
 e SI Leeds Literary Prize 2022 and the Future Worlds Prize 2023.
