SUMMARY:Becky Lyon: The Wetness of an Encounter
DESCRIPTION:Artist and researcher Becky Lyon's experimental work communi
 cates the sensory experience of being in/with/of the landscape. Inspired
  by philosopher Laura U. Marks\, she explores how we might “retain the
  wetness of the encounter” with nature when we document it. This ‘we
 tness’ is the immediate\, sensorial nature of an experience. What is i
 ts rhythm? How does the air taste? The ground feel?  \n\nBecky uses ma
 terials like paint\, fired ceramics\, wire and paper to turn her sketchb
 ook notes\, captured out in the field\, into three-dimensional installat
 ions. These translated notes attempt to create a more sensuous invitatio
 n for the viewer.   \n\nBecky remarks\, “the imagery we use to depi
 ct nature and the emotions they invoke become an important part of how w
 e rebuild our relationship to nature in times of crisis."\n\nYou are inv
 ited to explore this curious exhibition of sculptural installations\, ob
 jects and moving images as a way of reflecting on and inspiring your own
  multi-sensory encounters with nature.   \n\n&nbsp\;\n\nWe will be ce
 lebrating the opening of this exhibition on  Saturday 27 September\, 2-
 4pm. This event is free but booking is advised.
