A British Infantry Officer’s dress sword, of pattern 1796 type by Prosser, London, circa 1800 with straight blade, engraved gilt-brass hilt with shell-guards, short straight quillons, knuckle-guard, ovoidal pommel, and wire-bound grip, in original gilt-brass mounted leather scabbard (incomplete), the locket signed ‘Prosser sword manufacturer to “His Majesty London”‘ belonging to Sir Richard Burton.
